Batman: Arkham Asylum – Invisible Predator trailer

No, it is not the long awaited appearance of the alien killing machine known to one and all as “The Predator” in a Batman game. itss the description of the way Batman goes about taking out his foes in this trailer! Though lets be totally up front here, a Batman Vs Predator video game could be totally and utterly cool. But thats not whats going on here and wishin’ aint gonna make it so.

Arkham Asylum is shaping up to be the Batman game we’ve all been waiting for; dark, stylish, and supremely faithful to the Batman world. In the last trailer we revelaed that the voices of the two leads were to be Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, here we can here more of Hamill’s creepy tones along with some indications as to the style of the gameplay.

Clearly, sneaking around and sticking to the shadows is going to play a big part in this game, along with careful use of Batarangs, grappling hooks and the glidey cape thing. The combat looks damn cool and i just love the idea of lowering down over and unsuspecting joker guard and dragging him silently up into the darkness. Thats SO Batman!

We still have yet to see any other badguys beyond the Joker and a tiny bit of Killer Croc, but as they really have the entire rogues gallery to play with that’s cool.

I read a very interesting article on Kotaku about what happened to the Dark Knight movie game, here

It makes for some really fascinating reading and is a very interesting look at why Arkham Asylum is the Batman game we’re all talking about and not the movie spinoff you’d have expected.

Thoughs? Is being Batman as badass as we think? or is it all rubber nipples and oversized cod-pieces?
