Alien Vs Predator Part 2 – Toy Review

alien_vs_predator_toy-review-part-2

This is part 2 of 2 in a series looking at a few of the cooler Alien and Predator figures on the market, though if Hot Toys wants to send us some REALLY nice figures we’ll not say no!

From the depths of space to the planet earth there are two species which have inspired more fear than any other: Alien species from very different planets, both deadly, both terrifying, both in now cast in plastic.  The Xenomorphs first introduced in Ridely Scott’s Alien are the perfect killing machine, stunningly designed by HR Giger and brought to life by Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr. While the Ya’utja are a race of hunters, or “Predators” who first appeared in the John Mc Tiernan directed Schwarzenegger action vehicle “Predator”.

They have clashed many times in the pages of comics and novels as well as fighting on screen twice. There have been numerous video games and even card games and of course toys.

NECA have been working on both the Alien and Predator Licences for a number of years now, and their figures have set new standards for quality, while some of the earliest AVP merchandise existed before the films even came out. McFarlane’s figures were in many ways wishful thinking, or maybe just lookign ahead at what was to come.
