‘The Riches’ actor lands on ‘Heroes’
Todd Stashwick’s character has ties to carnival ringleader
“The Riches” alum Todd Stashwick has landed a recurring role on NBC’s “Heroes.” He will play Eli who is a part of this season’s traveling carnival storyline and has close ties to the carnival’s evil ringleader Samuel (Robert Knepper). Stashwick is recurring on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” where he plays Sandy Goodman, the NBC executive who shepherds the “Seinfeld” reunion.
Fox reveals ‘Family Guy’ variety plans, beds Microsoft
The half-hour “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” will air Nov. 8 at 8:30 p.m. and star MacFarlane and co-star Alex Borstein. The special will air commercial free … sort of … instead featuring a creeping invasion of Microsoft Windows 7-branded programming that, the press release assures, will “blend seamlessly with show content.”
‘Cleveland Show’ gets extended Season 2
the animated comedy is getting a Season Two back nine order, giving Fox enough episodes to roll the show right into 2011. It ranks as the highest-rated new scripted series of the fall. As an 8:30 p.m. lead-in, it’s also helped boost 9 p.m.’s “Family Guy,” which has been Sunday’s top-rated show since the start of the season.
Radha Mitchell to star in A&E pilot
Jennifer Salt wrote the drama ‘Quickening’
In her first U.S. series role, Radha Mitchell has signed to topline A&E’s drama pilot “The Quickening.” The project, from Fox TV Studios, centers on Maggie Bird (Mitchell), a homicide detective assigned to a desk job after it is discovered that she suffers from a bipolar disorder.
Star Trek’s sexiest Vulcan will be back on TV soon
Actress Jolene Blalock, who played the sexiest Vulcan who ever graced anything called Star Trek, is headed back to TV, with a continuing role with on Legend of the Seeker, as a mysterious Sister of the Dark with some serious magical powers. Blalock’s Sister of the Dark character will attempt to end Richard’s quest to stop the vile forces from the underworld. However, her real goal is to destroy Kahlan.
ABC orders new crime series ‘The Gates’
ABC is opening “The Gates,” handing a 13-episode order to a crime drama set in a gated suburban community. Written by Richard Hatem and Grant Scharbo, “Gates” centers on a big-city cop who becomes chief of police in a seemingly sleepy planned community only to discover there’s much more to the residents than meets the eye.
All is revealed about Fringe’s bald alien-like Observer
The Observer-centric episode coming up will feature not only actor Michael Cerveris as the Observer we know, but will also introduce a bigger society of observers. “We’re going to learn about just how many there are and a lot more about what we’re supposed to do and what we’re not supposed to do,” Cerveris said.
William H. Macy to star in Showtime pilot
John Wells Prods.’ five-year effort to bring “Shameless” to the U.S. has paid off — Showtime on Wednesday greenlighted a pilot for an American version of the long-running British drama series. The American version will star William H. Macy. Inspired by Abbott’s childhood growing up in a working-class family with eight children, the BAFTA-winning original series chronicles a dysfunctional family led by alcoholic patriarch Frank Gallagher (David Threlfall).
Bon Jovi teams up with NBC
Performing on ‘Today’; singer will be guest on ‘Actor’s Studio’
In a deal unveiled by NBC Universal on Thursday, the veteran rock band will perform on NBC’s “Today” show on four Wednesdays in November, and lead singer Jon Bon Jovi will be a guest on cable channel Bravo’s “Inside the Actor’s Studio,” as well as the subject of a character showcase on the company’s USA network.
Fox: We will air all 13 ‘Dollhouse’ episodes
“We’re going to run all the episodes,” Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman said. “We’re not saying we’re happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don’t have to overreact. During [November] sweeps we might have to jack up the numbers a little [with other programming], but we plan on completing the order for this show.”
‘Glee’ exclusive: Joss Whedon to direct!
Dollhouse-keeper Joss Whedon has agreed to direct one of the back nine episodes that Fox just ordered. Turns out, Whedon is a big fan of Ryan Murphy’s new phenom. “Joss directed one of the great musical episodes in the history of television on Buffy,” gushes Murphy, “so this is a great, if unexpected, fit. I’m thrilled he’ll be loaning us his fantastic groundbreaking talent.”
Fox plots on robbers and polygamists
Two new hour-long dramas in the works
Fox is prepping a new take on the British series “Daylight Robbery,” and has another hourlong in the works about a polygamist. The show originally ran in the U.K. on ITV in 1999, with a sequel in 2000. “Daylight Robbery” has been given a script order plus penalty. That drama centers on a polygamist with two wives.
ABC picks up ‘Castle’ for full season
ABC has picked up a full season of Nathan Fillion’s mystery drama “Castle.” “Castle” premiered at a 2.3 rating, dipped to a 2.2 for a couple weeks, rose back to 2.3 last week and then, last night, crept up to a 2.4 season high. The show has also averaged a 26% bump thanks to DVR viewing.
Julie Benz talks DEXTER 4th Season Finale
She told me they just wrapped on the finale and when I pressed for some details, she gave me some minor spoilers. Since I don’t want to reveal anything to the people that want to stay spoiler free, only click the jump if you want to learn more about where this season of “Dexter” is going. She also talks about the five films she did during last year’s hiatus and says the plan is to start filming season five next May.
