TV News Roundup “ July 2009 “ Week 2
Torchwood’s John Barrowman reveals Children of Earth details and why the show may not be done yet
“The story, without giving any inkling of what happened, the story is incredible,” Barrowman added. “It’s darker. It’s filled with a lot more action. There’s revelations about Jack that are just going to make people, … let’s say, … crap themselves because they’re so shocking. There’s things that happen to each and every one of the team that will just blow your mind.
‘Castle’ book to promote series
Mystery novel tie-in set for second season of ABC show
ABC is adopting a decidedly retro medium to excite viewers for the upcoming second season of “Castle”: a book. Starting Aug. 10, the first chapter of a novel titled “Heat Wave,” credited to Richard Castle, will debut on ABC.com. The network will post the first half of the book, a chapter a week, for 10 weeks. The full novel will be published Sept. 29 by Disney sister company Hyperion. The story apparently is a stand-alone mystery with cross-over elements to the on-screen story.
ABC picks up ‘Gravity’
Series will also air on CTV in Canada
The network has picked up Fox TV Studios’ 13-episode adventure drama starring Ron Livingston. “Gravity,” whose cast includes Laura Harris, Christina Cox, Malik Yoba and Florentine Lahme, is set in the near future and revolves around eight astronauts from five countries who undertake a mysterious six-year mission through the solar system.

Sci Fi cops a remake of ‘Alien’ tale
Network to develop new take on ‘Nation’
“It’s absolute perfect timing for this type of show,” Carlisle said. “They’re looking for more grounded sci-fi and close-ended episodes, and at the heart of ‘Alien Nation,’ it’s a cop movie. It’s grounded. And it has a tremendous amount of dramatic possibilities and humor.”
‘Earl’ creator heads to Fox
Greg Garcia moves to still-untitled laffer
Even though “My Name Is Earl” is dead, creator-exec producer Greg Garcia didn’t have long to mourn: The scribe has already landed a put pilot at Fox. Single-camera half-hour will revolve around a 25-year-old who winds up having to raise an infant with the help of his quirky family. The kid was the result of a one-night stand with a woman who ended up on death row for murder.

What’s breaking in Eureka: A new romance, some old friends, a big threat

Brian K. Vaughan Leaves ËœLost’ Writing Staff
Unfortunately he has left for greener pastures, the series’ executive producer Damon Lindelof told fans during a Q&A Session at Curzon Cinema. Vaughan’s presence on the writing staff was felt throughout recent seasons, not only as a result of his often hyper-pop-culturally-aware dialog and knack for cliffhanger plot twists, but also from such subtle visual cues as Hugo’s reading habits. The fact that Hugo, played by actor Jorge Garcia, was the one reading Y: The Last Man at the airport was probably no accident.

Singer/actress to guest on teen soap
Hilary Duff is joining the cast of “Gossip Girl” – but not on a regular basis.
