The Lucas Announces Star Wars TV
Posted by Chris on April 26th, 2005
Lucas referred to Clone Wars as a pilot. He confirmed that the animated series will continue as a 3D animated half hour version and will be a regular TV series.
Also, he is working on a live action series that spins off from the films that doesn’t incude the main characters but is about characters that we already know.
He plans to begin filming in a year. He wants to get all the scripts written for the first season all at once and then go out and shoot them.
Lucas will get it started, hire all the showrunners and then back away from it.
Following this format, there will be multiple directors, multiple writers so we are in for a ride! The future of Star Wars looks bright.
One more thing on the topic Star Wars. The revamping of Star Tours has been on the books for about 6 years and now with the change in management over at Disney, George hopes to have that put into motion sometime soon.

Sounds good, bet Nick loved it.
The revamping of Star Tours would be cool, I loved it when I was a kid, but when I went again at age 20, it felt fairly dated.

I’ve seen all three seasons of Clone Wars, and I really really HATE it. It’s ugly, and when it’s not filled with crappy turbo-paced action, the story moves along at 2000mph. My biggest question is: if they need three hours of hyperactive cartoons to fill the gap between Ep 2 and 3, then what will ep 3 look like? Frankly, I’m scared. George Lucas has ass-raped Star Wars ever since back in 1996 when he realized he actually couldn’t think of anything new anymore and started fucking with ep 4-6 to make more money. Original vision my ass, anyone who’ve read the first drafts of ep 4 knows his original vision was so far away from what came out of it. Think about it, he’s not done ANYTHING which isn’t SW/Indy/THX1138-related.
There I go again, sounding like that guy you REALLY want to get stuck at a party with. Geez.

So I guess you’ve got a bad feeling about this?
Relax man. This sentence gives me hope:
Following this format, there will be multiple directors, multiple writers so we are in for a ride! The future of Star Wars looks bright…

shit yeah, i mean i have to agree with SOME of henrik’s comments, star wars has been given a shafting by lucas on and off for a few years now, but, i loved the clone wars, they were cool and fun, and i like the idea of other directors and writers getting to do some good shite in the star wars universe. its a rich backdrop to play against with so much to do… look at all the “tales of” books, some very nice stories there. i think that george may have made a good decision on this.
But the thing is, i’m still juiced to all hell to watched episode 3 and nowt will dowse my flame. episode 2 made episode 1 a better film and i think that three will do the same for 1 and 2… roll on may 19th i say.
and ok, george hasn’t made much other than those films and american graphitti (howard the duck shall remain a dimly forgotten memory) but the technical stuff he ha added to the market the ideas and R+D he has been involved in is insane. he writes shit dialogue and terrible romance. but he gave us digital video and digital editing… i know which i am thankful for.

You goddam sick muthafucka. You disgust me.
You left WILLOW and INDIANA JONES off that list.
I think all the Lucas-hataz out there really need to adjust their paradigm, defocus from the negative, and align their chakras.

Indy = Indiana Jones =P
I don’t know why I forgot Howard the Duck though, because I actually like it, so there. Willow on the other hand never really appealed to me.

i really liked willow, it just appealed to me, or maybe i was just hankering for some halflings and didn’t know how good they got at the time…
god knows i played the arcade game enough!
oh and hang on for a moment
YOU LIKED HOWARD THE DUCK?!!!!!

“patch me through to mr lucas’ office”
“yes?”
“sir… we’ve found him”
“excellent, it begins…”

well big ups to henrik, as i have never met anyone who would openly admit that….
though honestly it scared the shit out of me as a kid… so who knows maybe its not complete shit.
though we are all ignoring the holdiay special… that is two hours of my life i can never ever get back… Ewe Boll would be ashamed of that effort.

Oh come on, I was 12 when it came out and Lea Thompson = teh hotness, it had Jeffrey Jones as a dark overlord! I always thought it was funny and suitably cheeky.
