Berkowitz Pens Superman and Batman as “Public Enemies”
Dating back to his work on “Superman: The Animated Series” in the late nineties, veteran television writer Stan Berkowitzhas penned dialogue for one or both of the iconic characters on the hit animated shows “Batman Beyond,” “The New Batman Adventures” and “Justice League,” as well as features like, “The Batman/ Superman Movie: World’s Finest” in 1998 and “Justice League: New Frontier,” a decade later in 2008.
‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Explains How Frank Darabont Will Bring Zombie Drama To AMC
I’m going to be an executive producer on the show, so I’ll have my hands all over the thing. But it’s important to me that I’m only involved in the show as much my comic book career will allow. I’m excited that there is a television show, and I’m excited that Darabont is involved—and one of the big reasons for that is that I trust him. I don’t need to look over his shoulder.

Scarlett Johansson Wants To Surprise Ryan Reynolds With Her ‘Iron Man 2′ Costume
“I have been so secretive about the suit that I have actually not shown anybody because I want the honest reaction from everybody,” Johansson explained. “The only people who have seen the suit are the crew members. But I have kept it close to my chest, even in my family I haven’t shown anybody. I can tell you it’s tight!”
‘Priest’ Movie And Joss Whedon’s ‘Cabin In the Woods’ Get Graphic Novels
TokyoPop recently announced plans to publish graphic novels based on Joss Whedon’s upcoming horror film “Cabin in the Woods,” as well as a graphic novel based on “Priest,” the upcoming film starring Cam Gigandet (“Twilight”) and Paul Bettany (“Legion”).According to ICv2, the two books are scheduled for release in 2010, likely timed to the February 5 premiere of “Cabin in the Woods” and the August 13 premiere of “Priest.”
James McTeigue on The Raven and His Ideas for Superman
“And I’m not saying you do the ubiquitous dark Superman, I’m not saying that… I’m just saying that I think there are some things that you could excise from the Superman mythology that people would get into it, if you took the world that he was in and changed that a bit, and maybe even project that into the future a bit. I think you don’t really have to play into the origin story anymore. I think there’s a whole bunch of things you could do to make that film more alive and exciting again.”
It looks like John Carter of Mars film will combine several books
The cast is filling out for John Carter of Mars, Disney’s upcoming live-action version of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ fantasy adventure books, with Thomas Haden Church, James Purefoy and Mark Strong joining Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins. The casting reveals a bit about the movie’s plot, which would appear to combine elements of Burroughs’ first Barsoom book, A Princess of Mars; the second, The Gods of Mars; and the third, The Warlord of Mars.
‘Cla$$war’ Optioned By Mandeville Films
“Cla$$war,” the celebrated miniseries, has been optioned Mandeville Films. Written by Rob Williams with art by Trevor Hairsine and Travel Foreman, “Cla$$war” was published from 2002-2004 by Com.x. The series featured a scientifically engineered, government-sponsored superhero called The American as he comes to terms with the political implications of his existence and is forced to battle the rest of his super-powered team.
Ryan Reynolds Says ‘Green Lantern’ 4-5 Months From Shooting, Confirms He’s Still On ‘Deadpool’
“I’m 4-5 months away from beginning shooting. It’s crazy, it’s the only job I’ve ever had that I’m not allowed to really talk about. I think there’s like a representative from Warner Brothers who I’m sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word,” said Reynolds, “I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I’ll just pass away.”
Cam Gigandet Says ‘Priest’ Motorcycles Making Him a Cool, If Not Easy, Rider
“I’d never ridden a motorcycle before this movie,” he said of the flick, based on Min-Woo Hyung’s graphic novel series about mankind’s battle against fallen angels. “They trained us on how to ride motorcycles and all that. Then I finally got to ride my motorcycle on set, and it is a huge beast of a motorcycle. It’s one of the coolest motorcycles, and Priest is on a motorcycle as well, and we get to ride in the middle of the desert on salt flats—it [looks] like those Chevy commercials.”
Todd McFarlane Reveals His Vision For ‘The Twisted Land Of Oz’ Movie
“In mine, [Dorothy is] up in the Antarctic, and there’s bad weather,” McFarlane said. “The point is that when you’re in bad weather in a s–tty place up north, it is completely gray. That would be our ‘black & white [sequence].’ Then she falls into her Shangri-La, called Oz, where suddenly everything’s in color…There’s still a thing called Toto, except its the biggest thing in the movie and not the smallest thing. [The beast called Toto] basically ate the first dog, and it’s this big thing that [the inhabitants of Oz] ride. They’ve given this generic word… so instead of horses, [people] ride Totos.”
‘Green Lantern’ Movie To Film In Mexico?
The “Green Lantern” feature film may soon be moving its beleaguered production to Mexico. According to Inside Film, the decision hasn’t been finalized yet. But if the production were to remain in Australia, it would cost an additional $20 million to make. Warner Brothers is still renting eight sound stages at Fox Studios Australia; although it is also rumored that the space may be used for a different film entirely.
Edward James Olmos’ ‘Green Hornet’ Role Revealed
Olmos’ character works alongside James Reid, publisher of the Sentinel and father of Britt. “We’re the backbone of the paper,” he said. “Things go awry, and I end up having to try to sustain what’s going on in our lives. And of course the Green Hornet doesn’t make it any easier. I don’t want to give anything away.“
Grant Morrison signs with ICM
Morrison, who was previously at CAA, is one of the leading writers in the comic book industry and one of the architects of the current DC universe. Morrison’s work has also impacted the entertainment industry. His graphic novel “Batman: Arkham Asylum” was the inspiration behind the Eidos video game of the same name. Morrison is consulting and writing treatments on DC Entertainment projects for Warner Bros., a deal that recently brought the writer from his home in Scotland to Los Angeles. Morrison’s signing signals a deeper push into comic book territory for ICM, with Morrison’s signing coming after the agency landed comic book icon Neal Adams in August. ICM also has artist-creator Todd McFarlane in its ranks.
The Other Skarsgard Joins “Thor”
Stellan Skarsgard (“Angels and Demons,” “Mamma Mia!,” “Pirates of the Caribbean”) has revealed that he’s joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Thor” movie. Skarsgard can not reveal what role he will play, though did say that he didn’t sign on to the film until after he looked over the difficult to get script.
