The Annual Top and Bottom 5′s BIG ASS POLL! (Closed)
POLL CLOSED – WINNERS & LOSERS ANNOUNCED SOON
As long time Cool Shite listeners and viewers will know we’ve always enjoyed giving you our opinions on the top and bottom five films of the year that was. This year we’re doing it slightly differently, we’re asking for your help in determining the top and bottom fives in a BIG-ASS poll which hopefully will compile into a more accurate representation of what you the reader/listener/viewer thought rocked and sucked in 2009. We’ll be publishing our personal top and bottom fives as well, but we want this one to be your poll.
“How are we going to do this?” i hear you ask, to begin with we won’t get you to give us your top and bottom five, we want your top and bottom THREE. From those top Three’s we’ll mathematically collate all of the votes and compile a top and bottom five! Does that make sense? You give us your 2 (two) top and bottom 3 (three) votes 4 (for) us to make a top 5 (five). SIMPLE!
One problem we’ve run into in the past is where do we cut off the dates on films, when they were released? When we reviewed them? When they were released in english etc. The rules of eligbility we have determined are as follows:
- The film must have seen wide release in between January 1st and December 31st 2009. (Film Festivals do not count as wide release)
- You MUST have personally watched the film.
- Direct to DVD and direct to TV films are eligible. (this means it was never released in cinema, ie, a 2008 cinema film released to dvd in 2009 is NOT eligible)
- International films are fair game, however we preffer to go by their home country release date. Not their international release date.
- We may have some wiggle room on films released around Christmas/New Year 2008, as the votes may not have had time to come in. The Spirit for example.
- If you are unsure, ASK!
I’m sure you’re probably thinking “Wow that Q-dog is an incredibly handsome and sexually virile man.” And you’d be right. But lets move on to your second though, namely “But Q-dog I can’t remember what films came out in 2009!” then we’re going to hopefully point you in the right directions. The IMDB will give you all the titles released in 2009, but as there are over 17,000 listings just for the USA i would honestly say to give it a miss. A listing i find quite useful is the yearly release schedule from Darkhorizons, another Aussie movie news site that has a pretty comprehensive listing of most of the big releases throughout the year. Check it out HERE. It may jog your memory as to what you saw, or wished you hadn’t seen this year.
HOW TO VOTE
Post your votes in the comments section below, or email them directly to feedback@coolshite.net with the subject heading “BIG ASS POLL!”. Remember top and bottom THREE films please. NO MORE, NO LESS. Yes i’m looking at you Dion.
The voting will close on January 1st. No votes will be accepted after that date. (sorry but we gotta draw a line in the sand)
The final collation and presentation will happen mid January, but feel free to comment and discuss the entire thing in the comments section!
