The Wolf Man – Movie Trailer

The Wolf Man – Movie Trailer

Recently the official trailer for The Wolf Man hit the interwebs, from director Joe Johnston.  He’s a man whose resume is something of a mixed bag, including films like JumanjiHidalgo and Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, yet still blows me away with this trailer that looks like a slick update of a classic monster movie from the 50′s. Benicio Del Toro is the doomed Lawrence Talbot, with Anthony Hopkins playing his father. Emily Blunt turns up as a love interest for Talbot‘s missing brother, whose tragedy is the mystery which draws him back to his family’s estate.Oh, and it’s worth noting that Agent Smithhimself (Hugo Weaving) is also in there to mix things up. The CGI of the transformations I can overlook because the creature itself looks extraordinarily reminiscent of the Universal monster I’ve loved all these years. I really feel like this film should’ve been in theaters around the same time as Branagh’sFrankenstein and Coppola’s Dracula, rather than Jack Nicholson in Mike Nichols’ Wolf. This film hits theaters in February of next year, and I’m very excited to see how it all pans out.

  1. Loved this trailer [you beat me to the punch on the review King! :) ]. The only peeve I had with it is that it looks like, once again, Benicio is sleepwalking his way through a role again. I’m constantly amazed he gets work.

Benicio could’ve gone from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas directly into this role, he was so feral in that flick.

I’m very excited for this film, love the silhouetted tree sequence towards the end!
