Dark Country – Movie Trailer

For something of a change of pace today (as I normally wouldn’t cover DVD releases) we have Dark Country, which is heading direct to video this October in the States. The film marks the directorial debut of Thomas Jane, who also co-stars in the film. He plays the husband to Lauren German; they’re newlyweds heading through the desert on their honeymoon who end up in hot water when they almost run down a guy who is the survivor of a car accident.Ron Perlman is in there as the local law, who looks to be very suspicious of their activities, and the synopsis I read also alludes to a paranormal element, which could be pretty intriguing. The whole look and feel of things reminds me a great deal of a Jim Thompson noir thriller, so I hope that vibe pays off. As I said, the film is unfortunately headed straight to DVD this October, rather than to theaters, but perhaps it will gain a following on the home video market. I also notice that the film was originally filmed for a 3-D presentation, though the DVD offering will not reflect this; perhaps if it gains a following a more substantial version will be made available at a later date? Keep your eyes peeled.
