Perth - 20th March

Dear Diary,

Arrived two days late for Rachel & Sabian’s wedding, which apparently was the MOST AWSEOME EVENT of the year. Even so, it was a very full-on day. Went to breakfast at the X-Wray Café, which is where the reception was held [pic 1, pic 2, pic 3]… Nice place, opposite an art-house cinema!

Went through Fremantle to do a little shopping and ran into KAVYAN TEMPERLEY and STEVE PARKIN, two local musicians who performed as ‘THE PRE-NUPS’, doing the wedding singer thing. KAV is actually the lead singer/song-writer for ESKIMO JOE, who won ‘Best Band’ at the most recent ARIA awards, while STEVE is head of his own band, THE FOREIGN FILMS, who’ll probably get a deal soon.

Checked out a heritage building or two before heading to a five star hotel, THE ESPLANADE, before heading to the offices of X-PRESS, where Sabian used to work as a film reviewer for a couple of years, although nothing as cool as the shite laid down by my homies back in Lonnie.

From X-PRESS, we headed up to Mt. Lawley, home of PLANET VIDEO, one of the ‘cool’ video stores in WA, before heading on to pick up another musician, CHRIS FULLER, who generally lived in the Freo area before moving to Melbourne sometime in the last 18 months. He was also back in town for the wedding, so he and Sabian and Randall and Blue Lou (CF’s girlfriend) went to the FLYING SCOTSMAN (www.lazysusans.com.au) [pic1, pic 2, pic 3] for a beer or two (I had a low-fat gin and tonic). Also checked out the new offices of RTRFM (www.rtrfm.com.au), where Sabian regularly performs his comedy songs. Also ran in to ABCTV host and comedian SAM LONGLEY.
Tried the WESTERN AUSTRALIAN tradition of PETROL-SNIFFING before heading to the PERTH DOMESTIC TERMINAL to see off the Melbourne visitors, which may have had something to do with CHRIS FULLER being pulled aside and tested for EXPLOSIVES RESIDUE!

I wanted to get tested for explosives residue as well, but SABIAN got stopped by AIRPORT SECURITY, who made him delete the photos of me with the explosives residue testing equipment [pic: DELETED].

After a very long day, it was time to go home and write it all up… And even now there is so much I’ve forgotten… My fight with a white tiger, and other interactions with almost-famous PERTHONALITIES [pic 1, pic 2, pic 3].

Everyone here is either really nice, or afraid of Sabian, who is clearly nuts!

PS. There is a shitload of food left over from the wedding here at Rachel and Sabian’s, and crates of booze… The diet is fucking over!
